National Merit Scholarship Corporation Names Semifinalists for 2021

Congratulations to ECS senior, Preston Hamilton, who was named a Semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Preston now has the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represent less that one percent of U.S. high school seniors and are among the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

The qualifying test for the National Merit competition is the PSAT/NMSQT, which is given to high school juniors each fall. To help them prepare for this test, students at Eastwood also take the PSAT in 10th grade and the PSAT 8/9 in the 8th and 9th grades.
