Harrison Taylor
Dr. Harrison Taylor will be teaching Honors American History (11th Grade). Dr. Taylor earned a Ph.D. in history from Mississippi State University and is a professor of history at Alabama State University. Dr. Taylor and his family are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he serves on the Diaconate and teaches a variety of classes. His research is primarily centered on the history of religion in the Anglo-American world during the long eighteenth century. He has published three books and is the author of several articles and book chapters. His book Unity in Christ and Country: American Presbyterians in the Revolutionary Era, 1758-1801 (University of Alabama Press, 2017) won the 2018 A. Donald MacLeod Award in Presbyterian History. Since 2003 he has taught at the college level classes such as World history, Western Civilization, and American history surveys. Additionally, he has taught classes on Colonial America, American Slavery and Abolition, the Civil War era, the American Church, as well as the Protestant Reformation and the Modern Church. He is married to Eastwood’s upper level math teacher Denise Taylor and together they have three children. Apart from seeking out the comforting confines of an archive, his hobbies include running and disc golf.
